There are watch dials you recognise immediately. The California is one of them.
Roman numerals on one half. Arabic numerals on the other. What appears eccentric today began as a wonderfully practical idea: a dial designed to make reading the time as immediate and unambiguous as possible.
RALF TECH takes that distinctive layout and places it within the elegant proportions of the 41mm Académie, creating one of the most characterful watches in the collection.
The 95% matte-black dial is paired with warm Old Radium Super-LumiNova®, while the polished 316L steel case provides a more refined counterpoint. A hand-sewn vintage chocolate calfskin strap completes the slightly nostalgic atmosphere.
Then there is the glassbox sapphire.
Thick, curved and beautifully suited to the design, it gives the California some of the visual softness of an older watch without asking you to live with an older watch's fragility.
Underneath sits the RTA003 automatic movement, providing up to 40 hours of power reserve. A screw-down crown and caseback help deliver a substantial 200 metres of water resistance, while a black Tropic silicone strap is also supplied.
Only 100 pieces will be produced.
