Teufelsberg is one of them.
Rising above Berlin from the rubble of the Second World War, the artificial hill later became home to one of the most important Allied listening stations of the Cold War. Today, its extraordinary radar domes remain — transformed from instruments of surveillance into an unmistakable landmark of street art, culture and modern Berlin.
The FineWatchesBerlin Teufelsberg collection takes that same idea of transformation and expresses it through watchmaking.
Designed in Berlin and made in Ruhla, its clean Bauhaus-inspired architecture is deliberately restrained, but never anonymous. A double-layer dial, recessed small seconds between four and five o’clock, applied numerals and indices, flashes of blue and red, and beautifully considered details give the watch far more personality than its minimalist foundation initially suggests.
Inside sits a modified Miyota 8218 automatic movement, visible through the sapphire exhibition case back and personalised with an engraved rotor and blued screws.
The collection moves effortlessly from the restrained Black #1, White #2, Silver #3 and Rosé #4 to the much more expressive Yellow #5, Blue #6 and Green #7, proving that simplicity and colour can coexist beautifully.
