HILTS Joins Sincrono — Time Well Worn!
Some names are chosen for their appeal. Others carry a lifetime of memories.
When we first discovered HILTS, we were drawn to the watches: bold chronographs, evocative colours and the unmistakable atmosphere of motor racing's golden years. But as we began to understand the story behind the brand, we discovered something rather more interesting.
HILTS is not simply another young watchmaker experimenting with vintage design. It is a company founded on friendship, personal conviction and a particularly moving sense of remembrance.
And that deserves attention.
A Name Born from Memory
The story begins in 2020, when three friends — Stephen, Jivan and Paul — decided to turn their shared enthusiasm for watches into something tangible. For Stephen, one particular film had always held a special place: The Great Escape, starring Steve McQueen as Captain Virgil Hilts. He had watched it countless times with his father, George, sharing those moments of excitement and affection that often become some of our most treasured memories. When George passed away during the pandemic, the name HILTS acquired a deeper significance. It became a tribute. A reminder that time is not merely what our watches measure, but what we share with those we love. I find this particularly touching because it speaks directly to something we believe at Sincrono: a good watch eventually becomes part of our personal history. It remembers nothing itself, yet somehow reminds us of everything.

The Spirit of an Extraordinary Era
HILTS draws much of its visual inspiration from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s — decades of remarkable cultural transformation, daring engineering and unforgettable personalities.
The age of great motor racing, when drivers possessed an almost mythical charisma and the machines they commanded were as beautiful as they were dangerous. This atmosphere comes alive in the brand's Precision Chronograph Collection. The Monaco '29 celebrates the seductive richness of British Racing Green. The Speedway offers the graphic confidence of a reverse-panda dial, while the Sarthe '70 recalls the glamour and intensity of endurance racing.
Yet these are not mere exercises in nostalgia. HILTS brings its own character to the designs: distinctive diamond-pattern engraving along the case flanks, expressive dial treatments, carefully considered colours and strong, contemporary proportions. There is something wonderfully satisfying about a watch that captures the spirit of another age without pretending to belong to it.
Quality Is a Decision, Not a Slogan
One episode in the HILTS story deserves particular attention.
During development, the founders rejected their first manufacturing partner because the results failed to meet their expectations. Walking away meant losing valuable time, but they preferred delay to compromising the finished product.
That tells us rather more about a company's intentions than pages of promotional superlatives.
The chronographs themselves reflect a similarly practical philosophy. Built with 316L stainless steel cases, sapphire crystals, excellent luminosity and 100 metres of water resistance, they use the highly dependable Citizen Miyota 6S21 quartz chronograph movement.
And I particularly appreciate that decision. HILTS has not chosen a movement simply to satisfy an expectation of prestige. It has chosen one that delivers accurate, reliable chronograph performance and the pleasure of a precise, responsive instrument.
Good watchmaking is also about knowing which engineering solution best serves the watch.
The brand's ambitions are already extending into Swiss automatic models, including the forthcoming Hero Diver and Heritage Pointer collections.
Why Would You Want a HILTS?
Because watches are among the few objects we choose to wear every day that can genuinely express something about who we are. HILTS has the energy of classic motorsport, the pleasure of distinctive design and the confidence of an object created with conviction. It might remind you of your first experience at a racing circuit, an old car you once loved, the films you watched growing up, or simply an era whose style and spirit continue to fascinate you.
There is pleasure in those associations. There is also pleasure in discovering an independent brand before its name becomes familiar, knowing that your choice was guided by personal taste rather than public recognition.
And that, perhaps, is the most interesting form of luxury: the freedom to choose something because it means something to you.
The Sincrono Perspective
We have always believed that independent watchmaking deserves attention when it brings genuine personality, originality and substance to the wrist. HILTS does exactly that. Its watches are confident, colourful and expressive, but it is the philosophy behind them that made us want to establish this partnership. A company born from friendship. A name inspired by a father and son. A determination to build things properly, even when the easier path was available. These are values we understand. We are therefore delighted to welcome HILTS to Sincrono, introducing another independent watchmaker whose creations offer more than the conventional pleasures of ownership.
Watches with character. Watches with memories waiting to be made.
Welcome to Sincrono, HILTS.
