White Star Neografic Dune N1-P1D1 Swiss Made Auto 39.5mm
White Star Neografic Collection
There is something inherently romantic about looking at the moon to understand the passage of time. White Star Neografic takes that idea and gives it a wonderfully unconventional Swiss interpretation.
Inspired by a White Star model first created in 1953, the Neografic retains the elegance of its mid-century origins while refusing to become a simple exercise in nostalgia. Its dial is deliberately asymmetric: a luminous moon phase appears at 5 o’clock, day and night unfold at 9, while an unusual horizontal date sits at 2. The result feels almost celestial — less like a conventional complication watch and more like a small mechanical representation of time continuously moving from darkness into light.
At night, the personality changes again. The moons, stars, hands and indices illuminate the dial, transforming Neografic into something far more expressive than its elegant proportions initially suggest. The collection moves from the cool restraint of Cobalt and Graphite to the warmer character of Dune, Azur and Ivory, while the Ground Truth Expedition Indigo and Sand versions introduce another story altogether — connecting White Star with the search for aircraft that disappeared decades ago.
Why buy it?
Because Neografic has that rare quality of being beautiful before you understand it, and more interesting once you do.
Its appeal lies in contrasts: 1950s heritage with contemporary asymmetry, traditional Swiss watchmaking with unexpected colour, elegance by day and an almost magical transformation after dark.
This is not a moon-phase watch created simply because a complication was available. The moon, day/night display and idea of constant renewal are fundamental to the identity of Neografic itself.
A watch for someone who wants elegance, but has absolutely no desire to be predictable.
